Welcome to The Shooter Pad, a private and semi-private hockey shooter training facility located
in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
The Shooter Pad is a concept developed by former NHL goalie Rick St. Croix designed exclusively for hockey players
wanting to improve their shot and score more goals! The program consists of private or semi-private (you and a partner) lessons where Rick and his staff work with you one on one in a controlled, structured environment.
It has often been said that hockey breaks down into three separate skill sets: skating, passing, and shooting. The Shooter Pad takes the proven
concept of isolated training (similar to a baseball batting cage) and transcends it into hockey, allowing participants to focus on one of the fundamental aspects
of the game.
All sessions are 60 minutes consisting of 15 minutes off ice, followed by 45 minutes on ice. The off ice component is used to warm up and introduce
strength and conditioning excercises. The on ice instruction will cover the following areas:
- Wrist Shot
- Slap Shot
- Dekes
- Backhands
- One timers
- Rebounds
In addition to the above, students who play center will receive instruction on taking face offs and and learn techniques to win more draws.
The Shooter Pad facility consists of an artificial sheet of ice (14 by 28 feet). Sessions will utilize real nets, targets, weighted pucks and a radar gun.
Participants will be need to bring skates, sticks (don't forget a spare), hockey gloves and a helmet.
"I am very excited with the introduction of this new training concept" states Rick. "I am not aware of any other program available to students that allows them to focus on the science of shooting in a controlled, instructional environment. Our web site will allow you to book lessons on-line and also to tap into new opportunities offered by our sponsers. Look for these value-added packages in the near future:"
- For out of town guests, special rates at the Victoria Inn, located one block away.
- Demo equipment offered through Play It Again Sports.
- Manitoba Moose tickets with eight and ten lesson packages.
